How Mac based, Architectural Thread have found their first 12 months with CloudFiler
In December 2023 Jen Boddington of Architectural Thread contacted us to ask whether CloudFiler might meet their email filing needs. As an Apple Mac based business they had been unable to find any software that could address their needs, but they then heard about CloudFiler.
The practice specialises in conservation architecture, balancing between safeguarding the past and creating spaces that actively contribute to the future, a passion which demands meticulous management of documentation.
Emails were manually renamed, dragged and dropped into project folders so that anyone in the team could easily find them at a later date, but the process was manual and internal email text was only searchable via email inboxes.
CloudFiler looked like a great fit, but it’s sync connector which places the filed emails in the right folders, is a Windows PC application. Their IT service provider Somerset Technology Services Ltd were quick to suggest a simple solution, which was to buy a mini-PC for around £160 which now handles the process.
The biscuit-tin sized box sits in a cupboard and handles the sync process for all staff.
“We are delighted with the system as it has made our filing process significantly easier, leaving us more time to focus on our specialism.” said Jen Boddington.
Staff took to it immediately and have found it really easy and pleasant to use. Any minor issues in the early stages due to being the first Mac-only office for CloudFiler were worked through with the technical team at Dinamich. Jen said that they couldn’t have been more helpful or responsive and quickly resolved each issue that arose.
Thread are very happy with the system “Filing is now something that is fast and easy and CloudFiler's search is fantastic in both what it does and how quickly it responds. Looking back, I was surprised to note that we haven’t once had to contact anyone for support since it was installed, it just works. I did contact Dinamich about licensing when we had a change of staff only to learn that this was automatic, so there was nothing to do and no extra bills to pay. I can wholeheartedly recommend it, in particular to any businesses that use Macs.”
